Shiny Disco Punk Futuristic Duct Tape Prom Dress

Yeah, you read that right! Duct tape prom dress. I've been planning this since November and been working on it off and on since January. Now I'm buckling down to really get things done!

Here's the design. Accessories not included... ;D Those are for another day when I'm not so lazy. (They're on a separate picture, you see.) The front view is on the left and the back is on the right. The grey underneath is going to be shinyshiny chrome duct tape with black strips crisscrossed over it!

There is a matching guy's suit but I'm not sure that I'll be able to do this. ^_^; The guy I'm going with is not perfectly reliable and so I'm finishing mine first. Plus, his is less labor-intensive. At least, I think so... :S It's really hard to tell!

I'm going to reuse my hoopskirt from the Jalissa costume. (Orange and black, shiny, cyberlox.) The jury is still out on hair designs.

And yes. There is a buttbow. :3

sweet and a nice looking design hopefully everything gets done in time these are the things that make everything so much more fun and worth while, although you are probably going to rub some purest the wrong way. but who cares as long as you have fun! Love the colours of your dress you drew!

^______^ I remember seeing a couple at my junior prom with a duct tape dress and suit! Their outfits were both gray like normal duct tape. How are you going to get the colors? I hope the guy you are going with is a good guy! Unreliability is not good. I hope you have a great time at your prom. To be honest my junior prom was way more fun than my senior prom. I went with the same guy both times and our relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend was on the rocks at the time of our senior prom and we did end up breaking up about 2 weeks after our senior prom. We had been together about 1 1/2 years. It was a yucky break up and I do not talk to him. Have not for well years! Heh. Is your prom going to be held in the gym or somewhere else? Do you plan on going to dinner beforehand? Proms can be so much fun. Take a pic of your dress. I know you will take some pics because it is prom after all! :-)

They make colored duct tape -- I've already got it started but it needs more work (like...a top and back XD) before I feel comfortable showing it here. I hope to have lots of fun. Any time I attract attention is good! ;D I played with makeup tonight (I spent around $25, but omg, the hot pink eyeshadow I got was worth it ALONE) and I think I found a look I love for this! I may or may not post it here. I might do it tomorrow since I didn't put on any foundation for this first so my skin is kinda bad. ^_^; But, yeah, bright colors = love! Neither of my date options (a week ago I was dateless, now I have two--crazy, huh? XD) is boyfriend material although I love them both to death as friends. I think I'm happier this way! Our prom is held in Celebrations, which is a general event venue. It has a stage area and a balcony and it's really kinda hard to describe...imagine an old theater with all the seats taken out (like a play-theater! The old orchestra pit is one of the dance floors, with the stage as the other) and some tables put in instead. The theme is "A Night with the Stars" like Hollywood! I feel like I'll really match~. I'm gonna get sooo many pictures...about half of all the people I talk to about my project say they want pics!

Oh, and no, I won't be going to dinner beforehand. Not unless my date wants to. I don't think it'll be very easy to sit in my dress because a. it's got a hoopskirt under it and b. it's duct tape! Not flexible! XD But it should be fun. I'm falling in love more with my design every day. <3

Thank you for the well-wishes and compliments! At this point I really need to buckle down, pop in some DVDs, and just get working! I'll see about doing that tomorrow for a while. Maybe I'll have a Sailor Moon marathon. :D

Oddly enough, the subject of duct tape came up at the OMGcon staff meeting over the weekend. Someone mentioned that someone else they knew got a small scholarship ($3000, I think) from the people at Duck Tape for going to prom in a duct tape dress. The catch: Their date also has to wear a duct tape outfit.

Yeah, I'm trying for that...I just gotta get a reliable date first. :) If not, my dress will still be awesome. :D
